This autumn saw a welcome return of tutor Judith Hodgkinson. The course "Looking at Pictures" exceeded expectations, with Judith showing a wide range of landscapes, portraits and abstract paintings from major artists, beginning at the Italian Renaissance and going up to the Twentieth Century.
Using digital images we looked at the pictures, rather than just seeing them, learning to appreciate the elements within painting, i.e. composition structure, perspective device, and technique, from fresco and oil painting to watercolour and etching. With a visit to the Ashmolean Museum along the way, we feel that we have had an excellent introduction to Art History. Judith is an excellent tutor, usin
